Vety good but no soap in bathroom and sink mechanism did not work
Excellent location, and ideal for travellers who will be out enjoying the sights and sounds of Edinburgh. Check in was extremely quick and staff happy and friendly. Room very clean and tidy, and has everything you would need. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
It was my first visit ever to a Motel One. It was not just a pleasant surprise, it was absolute total quality in all the aspects mentioned below. I am cautious (but still very positive) with the area "value for money" because I did not do too much research for hotels in the neighborhood. I am mostly travelling outside of Europe but if I ever need a place to sleep in a European city then I will first look for a Motel One. Having travelled a lot I did initially have a bit of doubt with booking your hotel as the name "Motel One" somehow has connotations with the cheap motels just outside the big cities (which are usually rented out by the hour....). The pictures on your website took that concern away, yet it may people to skip over the name.
Excellent attention and kind people. Very good location and great bedrooms! I'll be back to this hotel
Motel one princess street Edinburgh was the perfect location as it was central to everything. The rooms were basic but had everything required! Additionally the rooms were very clean and room service was every day. Would defiantly stay here again!
excellent. really clean, smart hotel. friendly staff.
We had a great stay here for the Jazz Festival. The accommodation was very good value being quiet, clean and very comfortable and the breakfast was also excellent value with very decent coffee. Rooms are small but perfectly adequate and the shower room very good. My only dislikes were: no soap for washing your hands (had to fiddle about with body wash bottle) and the pillows were not our favourite. Having said that the pillows were certainly not the worst and the bed is very comfortable which coupled with good aircon gave an excellent night's sleep. Staff were lovely. Lounge very nice, bar area somewhat lacking character tho' great views.
Very nice hotel, staff very friendly and helpful, room clean and nice.
Not very female friendly - no door peepholes (security issue), no telephone, no clock (wake up call is a gentle wrap on the door - really?), no bar soap, no wash cloths, limited space for clothes, no provision for breakfast for early departures...I had to get dressed and go to reception each time a problem was encountered.
I stayed at the Motel One Princess in Edinburgh last week for two nights with my wife and my two sons. We went on a budget break but this hotel is one of the best I have had the pleasure of staying at; beating more expensive ones for many reasons. The location was spot on. The staff were lovely and the bedrooms were clean and functional and had windows that you could open for fresh air. The only downside was the lack of cupboard space in the bedroom and not enough places to put your things in bathroom. We felt safe and very comfortable. Unfortunately we didn't eat at the hotel because we wanted to try the eateries town, however the restaurant looked very inviting so next time we will try the hotel cuisine. I will definitely stay with them again and highly recommend them. Peter
What an excellent hotel with a fabulous team of staff. I was there for the Golf Open and can honestly say that I could not fault the standards or service I received and will definitely return. Thank you all.
Great stay. Great location, really friendly helpful staff. I can only think of 2 things and these are not criticisms just ideas, no soap in my room, could put in a nice set. Also really fancied a cooked breakfast!
It's everything you need in a Motel room without the trimmings.........
everything was perfect! very central location, friendly and helpful staff. Good value for price.
Excellent choice for a few days in Edinburgh, centrally located, ample breakfast, cleanliness and friendliness, back for sure!
Great Hotel in a convenient location, Drinks in he bar very expensive!
Very clean, very functional and fantastic staff.
Location was really great--in the middle of Edinburgh, right next to Waverly Station. Motel One seems to specialize in keeping costs down while giving superb service. They don't provide unnecessary stuff like a gym (go for a run outside!), pool, tons of towels (just one each, who needs more?), telephone (everyone has a cell phone, right?), etc. The staff are all well trained in customer service, but keeping the cost model in mind as well. Anyway, the only ding I had was someone was smoking on another floor, but the smoke entered my room and stank. I found out that they caught him and charged him extra. That was good enough for me; it wasn't the hotel's fault.
Excellent location and very friendly staff. Rooms are efficient but comfortable. Very good value. Lounge area pleasant. No dining other than light breakfast, but many dining options in the area.
Excellent service and polite, friendly staff. You need to get shaving plugs installed though! Most people use electric toothbrushes and have nowhere to charge them in your hotel!
Great hotel great staff. Hotel is in the middle of everything needed to do in Edinburgh
Excellent location, friendly and helpful staff, bright clean rooms with comfortable and large bdouble beds. Lack of accessible power points which is a problem for the business user. Was really good value for money when previouslly priced at £69 per room but now at £89 it is much less competitive and not as good value for money
We had a lovely stay this was our 3rd stay & standards have continued to stay high Staff well trained & very helpful Keep up the good work
Good hotel, nice location and great staf! The only slight let down is the breakfast selection which is adequate, but no more. Soft boiled eggs would be good addition, as would some sliceable wholemeal or seeded bread.....
Lovely clean hotel at a reasonable price. All you can eat continental breakfast is of really high standard. Staff are very friendly and are always on hand to help. Tea & coffee making facilities in the room along with shampoo and shower gel. Also a hairdryer. Could maybe do with hand wash in the bathroom-the only suggestion I could think of.
Very convenient location, good quality amenities, great price. Well done!
Very close to railway station
Very helpful and friendly staff , neat and clean rooms ... My suggestion is try and upgrade the tea coffee facilities in the room and add a phone
We enjoyed our stay at your hotel. The staff was excellent!!!!!! Improvements to the room are as follows: A box of kleenex, soap for the shower, night tables and a window that opens would have made the stay much more comfortable. Other than that the room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We would come back. Thank You :)
Staff were very friendly and attentive. Rooms were clean and simple but missing some basics such as: Kleenex, face/washcloths, hand soap, phone...this was somewhat frustrating. Location was excellent. Breakfast was adequate.
It is a beautiful hotel, very confortable and the spanish girl in reception was very kind with us and hers instructions and advices were very useful for us. Thank you.
Great friendly staff - remember my name and preference for room. Rooms can be warm in the summer and with the window open can be noisy - if there was air-conditioning that would make a huge difference.
The most important thing for me when I choose hotel is that the hotel is clean, top marks to motel 1 for that. The staff is very very nice and helpful. The concept overall give the hotel a very luxury feeling .
Staff very helpful and friendly. Rooms clean and comfortable. Very good hotel for the price. Bar and lounge area lack a bit of soul but overall a very good experience.
The most comfortable bed in Scotland and excellent front desk service.
This hotel is central and convenient and the staff are super friendly and helpful. The room is modern to the point of being stark. It would be nice to have nightstands, you just have to put your book and glasses on the floor beside the bed. It would also be helpful if there were suitcase holders or something to put your luggage on other than the floor. We were glad of the electric fan provided as the room was very stuffy.
I had a good stay at the hotel and the location was perfect. It was about 2 minutes walk from Waverley station right in the middle of the shopping area. Took me more than 3 minutes to find as I thought it would be right on Princes Street but it is located slightly inwards about a few hundred metres from the main road behind the Apple store. The receptionist was really friendly and informative. The room was really clean but the temperature was a little chilled for me even when I turned the thermostat to 28. The bathroom was great and I loved the shower. The WiFi worked really well and I was happy they had Freeview available. There was tea and coffee facilities but not that much variety in the tea bags offered in the room. Only downside is that it would of been good if there was a first aid kit in the room as I nicked myself and needed plasters. Other than that, it's a nice hotel with the perfect location.
Upon arrival from London by 1030sh in the morning, my wife and I were told that we could check in as a room was available. What a relief and then to walk into our room we found it so clean and beautiful! Courtesy and help were main characteristics of the staff' particularly Francis, Erwin, and Annabell who leads the winners. Breakfast bar is ok but one cannot enjoy the same menu everyday - not to beat a cooked breakfast. Anyway, we enjoyed the stay and will definitely stay there on our next visit to Edinburgh Princes
Very polite check in staff which is what you want on arrival. Other staff also polite and pleasant nothing was to much trouble for them we will definitely be returning in the near future the only thing I would like up on is the price of breakfast was quite expensive when you could go only 5mins from hotel and get a larger choice and at considerably lower price on saying that please pass on our thanks to your wonderful staff
early check in much appreiciated/storage of luggage on check out also appreiciated shower was great bath towels too small for a larger person staff very friendly and quick to respond to query regarding TV general clenliness throughout hotel
Brilliant location, great design, simple and efficient. The staff were exceptionally nice and helpful. The buffet breakfast was very good and plentiful. Rooms great size, clean and very comfortable bed. I would throughly recommend motel one.
This hotel is the best iv stayed at stayed here last year and again this year and the staff are so helpful and so kind. They upgraded us to a room with a view free of charge because they found out it was for my boyfriends birthday the room was amazing we also sat and had a hot chocolate just before we left and it was delicious. I rely can not thank the staff enough as they let us have late check out for 1 o'clock due to the delays we had with getting back from t in the park for the day which resulted in us Not getting back to the hotel till 5:20 in the morning instead of 2 which we had arranged. I really can't say anything bad at all about this hotel. Thank you so much for having me and my partner
This hotel is excellent for couple of nights break. The room was clean and had all we needed. The bathroom spotless. Only downside was fault with the electric sockets, these failed on the night we were getting ready to go out. As there is no phone to contact reception this meant a trip to seek assistance. A room was offered to use hairdryer and the offer to change rooms when we got back. We declined this and strangely the electric came on through the night. The bar was open 24 hours and the drinks were reasonably priced.
Absolutely fantastic, boutique style hotel. Very clean, crisp bedding. Staff warm, friendly and welcoming! Location excellent too!
the staff were polite, attentive &very helpful. The room was basic but had everything required. Breakfast hit the right spot
