Found the motel 1 in Edinburgh princess street to be good. Everything you need. We didn't spend much time in hotel but when we did we were relaxed and comfortable. Edinburgh is too expensive on hotels however motel1 is proportionately priced well.
Had a brilliant stay with Motel One Edinburgh Princess on the weekend of 26/06/15, the staff couldn't have been anymore helpful with making our weekend the special weekend I wanted it to be. Thank you! We will definitely be coming back again.
Very satisfied Would like an opportunity to have the option Of eating in but overall I liked the hotel and The staff were excellent and I hope to return again
Confortable and very good located!
Welcome and check-in from reception staff was friendly and very efficient. Staff are always keen to help and are clearly well-trained and motivated. Hotel is stylish and modern, ideally located at the east end of Princes St and near the railway station and the airport bus. Room was comfortable and, although sparsely furnished, had everything I needed for a short stay. En suite facilities were really good. Highly recommended.
Atrocious price charged for continental breakfast. Ridiculous place for kettle and tea making facilities - couldn't open bathroom door while kettle on
Easy to get to in a great location and very friendly staff, only criticism is the breakfast could do with more verity.
Great find!! Staff so helpful, great value for money, fantastic location!! Jennifer was a great ambassador
Great value, lovely room& very friendly staff, only complaint was no hot water for a shower in the morning.Ideal location if coming by train.
Overall, we loved our experience at your hotel. We actually plan to stay with you next time we are in Edinburgh. We loved the location and the hotel, overall. Our one complaint was lack of places to put our stuff. We even asked for another table to be brought in so we had a place for our suitcases, but were told that it is a budget hotel so we could not have another table. We were able to get more pillows and a few bars of soap, which we did appreciate. Like I said, we will be back. The staff was very helpful and friendly, the breakfast was tasty, and the location is 5 stars. Thank you.
I had a very favorable experience. My only complaint is that there was no hot water during my shower in the morning.
The pillows were not at all comfortable. Square - looks nice - but got neck ache. Staff friendly, I will stay again, but I'll be asking for some normal pillows!
Wonderful hotel. I've already recommended it to my friends and I plan on bringing a group of 20 next summer. My feedback is related to the room. It may be an American thing but not having a washcloth or hand soap is an inconvenience. I couldn't figure out how to stop up the sink so that was a problem. Also, I couldn't find anything to explain things about the hotel and the room. The book in the room appeared to be a catalog of other hotels. I wanted to know things about the room and hotel where I was staying. Like services, TV channels, how the card in the slot controls the electricity, what the bar and restaurant offer, etc. Because there was no phone in the room, you have to get dressed to come ask questions. I know the limited amenities keeps the cost down but a simple two page document providing answers wouldn't cost much. All of this is meant to be helpful feedback that could make the stay more pleasant for a first-time visitor. I know what to expect now and can adapt. I still would love to have a bar of soap and a washcloth! :) Spoiled American
We had such a wonderful time in your hotel. The reception and bar service was friendly.efficient and professional. The housekeeping was clean and good although our cushions and bed throw were left on the bedroom floor after the room was serviced. The location of the hotel was superb. It's a shame that we visited before the air conditioning was commissioned though as, even with the fan, the room was very hot. We would definitely come back again!
Very clean, lovely room, very pleasant and helpful staff, great location. Only improvement which could be made is ability to have some fresh air or air con, the fan which is provided is not sufficient- windows won't open and it gets very stuffy and warm
Perfect central location. Comfortable room and pleasant staff.
overall the stay was fine - the signage and exterior of the hotel was not very good and instructions should be clearer as to where it is on the web site i.e. above the apple stoor entrance off Princes St Pillows were small and uncomfortable otherwise room was clean tidy and fucntional
Hotel is fine apart from the fact that there is no air conditioning. TYhis is a real let down and you cant open the windiows as the noise from princess street is too great. Fans are ineffeicnet and it really does spoli the experience. Staff all friendly but when you cant sleep cause its too hot with no way of cooling down then it does ruin the experience.
Great location, lovely breakfast , beatuiful reception/ bar/breakfast -room, the rooms are smal , but have everything you need. Only minus is the temprature in rooms... to warm!!
A hidden gem which I'm glad I found. The staff were very friendly and check in was very easy. The room was very clean and very comfortable. The bathroom was amazing. My only points for improvement are: there was no bin by the kettle for tea bags etc. The television guide was not set up correctly and I couldn't get radio on my television. When you pressed the TV guide it defaulted to European channels and the radio did not work at all. The radio time was also set to European time not UK time. However I am very glad I found your hotel and will definitely stay there again.
Although my husband & I arrived at 9.30 am after an early morning flight, we were extremely impressed that reception staff were able to accommodate us with a room (we expected to simply leave our bags & return later). I must praise the efficiency of the housekeeping staff of course for having a room cleaned & ready at this time. The reception staff were really lovely - very friendly, helpful & genuine. They gave us plenty of information about the hotel - breakfast option etc if we wanted to have it - but we had already decided to go out for coffee to explore the city. We very much liked the style & décor of the hotel. Our room was lovely - overlooking Princes Street & looking across to the Royal Mile - very handy for walking anywhere & right opposite Waverley Train Station. Despite looking onto the street noise was not an issue .The bathroom was very stylish (we liked the glass shower screen) and the bed was very comfortable. Reception staff helpfully kept our bags for us following checkout & got them for us promptly on our return. The young man who stood down at the hotel entrance to offer guidance & advice to guests was also very friendly & we had a couple of nice chats with him. Although we didn't eat or drink in the hotel the reception/bar area looked very appealing. I have already recommended Motel One to friends & work colleagues since our return & I would happily stay there again in the future.
I wasn't expecting much this being advertised as a budget hotel, but it by far passed any and all of my expectations. The staff were happy and friendly always there to help. There was not a spot of dirt any where to be found and the breakfast was superb! Have already recommended you to anyone who I have spoken to!
Everything was perfect. Location ideal. Staff and accommodation was first rate. The price of breakfast seemed a little high but we did not partake in the service so couldn't say if it was worth that price or not.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.
No complaints. This was a very comfortable hotel in an excellent location at a very good price.
My second stay at Motel One in Edinburgh. As previously, the staff were very warm and extremely helpful. The room was spotless, the decor modern, the breakfast tasty and plentiful, the location perfect. What more could you ask for.
Room was immaculate and ideal for an overnight stop. Really needs air con sorting asap
Hotel met our requirements for accommodation in Edinburgh - close to Railway. When you say budget one does not expect to have to ask for soap which was issued on request
Fantastic stay at Motel One. Super sized bedroom and excellent bathroom facilities. Wonderful shower. Very minimalistic - no ugly wardrobes or dressing tables (which we never use in hotels anyway!). Lovely friendly staff. All in all, Excellent. We will be back and would highly recommend a stay at Motel One.
Enjoyable stay, with friendly helpful staff.
Very convenient for the train station. Left luggage facility available after check out which was great. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Not enough storage in the room. Coffee was not good and not enough milk without asking for more all the time. No air conditioning and room too hot even though a fan was provided. Have had better accommodation for the same cost (Thistle for example)
Excellent location, beautiful interior and stunning views to the city. The room was clean, fresh and bright. Loved the decor! Best part of the hotel is the breakfast.
Excellent location, although it's a bit difficult to locate the entrance. Rooms are big enough and clean, but ventilation is not very good. For some reason fresh air doesn't enter the room with the window (and even the door) open. Breakfast is good, but something hot except eggs could be good to add (e.g. instant porridge). In the bathroom a soap bar will be good to have.
Location fantastic but not overall impressed. Had to move rooms after I'd unpacked as none of the electrical sockets were working. We were moved to an accessible room with all disabled facilities which had a "smell" the kind of smell you find in public diabled toilets. Had I wanted a disabled room I'd have booked one. Not happy that I had to pay for our stay on checking in because I certainly wouldn't have paid £134 to you after the inconvenience of everything. Having to wait for someone to come and sort our room etc made us late for our dinner reservation and completely spoilt our night and weekend
First stay at one of your hotels was pleasantly surprised after reading some reviews on TripAdvisor thought your staff were friendly & knowledgeable. Room was very comfortable, bathroom very clear excellent shower. My only criticism is that the mirror could have been positioned over the desk/dressing table with an extra plug socket there.
Lovely hotel, very central in the city and very helpful staff. The only downside was no air conditioning in the room
Motel One exceeded my expectations. It was a great price considering the location in Edinburgh (Prince's Street). The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Further more, my reservation with Motel One was for a group of 8 or 9 of us in total, some of whom were coming from Palestine. The Palestinians were all very happy with the accommodation. In the run up to our visit, I liaised with Katarina regarding the reservation, who went out of her way to be helpful and accommodating. Nothing was too much hassle for her, which I was very grateful for as prior to my contacting Motel One I had been in touch with another hotel in Edinburgh who were quite difficult to deal with. I think Motel One was excellent value for money and would like to thank the staff for making our stay so enjoyable.
Ideally located in the city centre at the east end of Princes Street, just minutes' walk from the railway station and the airport bus. Motel One is new, stylish and comfortable. Check-in and -out were easy, and staff friendly, efficient, well-trained and motivated to provide excellent service.
Brilliant efficiency and very helpful and friendly staff. However, there is no input point for electric razors in the bathroom/shower (at least not in room 220). Excellent reception staff (male) went to great efforts to locate a conversion plug for me. My connection was the usual UK two-pin unit used for razors, toothbrushes, etc. Breakfast was superb, generous and varied continental style and great value for money with fast and friendly staff around so nothing ran out as far as food and drink availability. Evenings in the bar/lounge was elegant minimalist and comfortable. However a wider range of light snacks would be welcome. One does not always want to go out again after a long day in the city. A glass of wine (175ml) at £6.50 is pushing it a bit on price!! Overall we had great and relaxing time (my wife, me and my sister). The decor is right up our street, away from the fussy overdressed frilliness of other hotels. Superb. There was a great mix of people around, there is nothing worse than feeling stuck with one generation (i.e., hideous tour groups!!) whatever that might be. We will be back very soon for certain and will certainly seek you out on future trips to Europe. Keep it up and do not lose focus. You are in the top league of boutique hotels so make sure you stay there.
All aspects of this hotel were very good indeed. Location, cleanliness, great design etc. Unfortunately the stay was spoiled somewhat by a lack of air conditioning in a very poorly ventilated room (227). The supplied small fan did little to provide any fresh air.
staff were very friendly and welcoming facilities and rooms were of a good standard entrance to the hotel was not signposted well - reception is on 1st floor. to get to it, you need to go in the lift from the entrance, however no signage at all at by the door so a little confusing
Very central and easy to find. Everything you need. slightly bare rooms, but everything which I might need was there, including a very upmarket TV (with a slightly dated screensaver), and all very clean. Comfortable bed and pillows. The only downsides were that I could not get any sound from the radio (on the TV) and there was no plug for the basin
It is probably the best budget hotel I have ever visited. The interior is simple but doesn't look cheap and you have absolutely everything you need for few nights in the city. The lobby has unique and relaxing atmosphere and I loved spending time there before going out and after a long day out exploring. The staff are friendly and are answering your questions before you have even asked.Excellent place to stay.
Nice bright modern hotel, superb value for very centre of Edinburgh - and very very helpful staff !
Central and excellent location for shopping malls and royal mile attractions such as Mary Kings Close. Spotlessly clean. Boutique hotel and vibe if that's yourt preference I would highly recoMmend this hotel and its friendly staff. However a few minor gripes - no usable and safe powerpoint for kettle ( extremely short lead) so had to balance it on a chair to boil - not safe particularly if travelling with small children. The hotel appears to be on a quadrant layout so having an inner quadrant room we had no view of the magnificient Edinburgh skyline. This could easily be overcome by requesting or paying for a view. Overall the hotel represents good value for money and I would recommend it for adults without small children who are looking for a modern feel. One final thought - parking is a nightmare no matter what hotel you stay in but there is a multi storey car park near the Omni centre about 10mins walk away and the hotel discount the charges significantly for staying guests.
Very well positioned just across from Waverley Station and 15 min walk to the university which were visiting. Staff were very polite and helpful. Lovely decor, rooms basic but functional. Soap in the bathroom would have been useful! Think we were in a disabled room as handles and red cords everywhere but nevertheless a very comfortable and pleasant stay. It didn't say on the website that breakfast was available at the hotel.
