Overall excellent quality at the price, with a clean and comfortable room in an excellent location. In the room, there could have been a little more storage space for clothes and in the breakfast area the backless chairs were not especially comfortable but apart from that I really enjoyed my stay and would consider this chain again.
Very good value for money'. Excellent central situation . My only criticism is the lack of a tablet of soap for hand washjng.
Before we arrived we somehow managed to get dropped off at your sister hotel across the bridge. 'No problem' the receptionist there said, 'just cross the bridge, turn left and you will see the banners of the hotel you are looking for from the end of the bridge'. My wife said to her, 'you said turn left but indicated right with your hand'. The receptionist said, 'I am left handed and often get that wrong it is definitely left'. So a while later we worked out that she was wrong, it was definitely not left but right, and we are standing in front of where we had figured out the hotel should be, no banners in sight anywhere. There was a high hoarding saying 'Apple store opening soon' no mention anywhere on the hoarding of Motel One. We were asking passers by if they knew where the hotel was. Eventually as we gave up and walked away we saw the entrance down a side street. Why say you have a Princes Street address when the entrance is in a side street? We read just before we arrived that the hotel was hot and had no a/c. At check-in we were told we had been upgraded to a street view, but also not to turn on the heating system as it only heated and did not cool. So we figured that we were being given the option of opening a window instead of suffocating as yes the room was hot, So we opened the window, and unfortunately an incredible level of street noise kept us awake until 3 a.m. Then at 5 a.m. the garbage trucks arrived right under our window. Easily the worst night's sleep either of us had had in years.
I had a really enjoyable stay at Motel One. The hotel was very clean, modern and in a great location. The room was spacious, very clean and the bed was really comfortable - i had a great nights sleep. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Nice room, nice location. We had a great time!
Motel one has the most suitable place to visit all places in Edinburgh, it is clean, high quality, and easy to found. It is infront of stain station. Many restaurants around the area.
In my point of view i rank Motel one as one of the best hotels I have stayed in my life. However, if there was car parking for hotel gusts that would be appreciated otherwise every thing was perfect. For example, the location , cleaning, service, spacious room which let me felt comfortable. I really like Motel one hotel.
The staff were all very friendly however upon arrival we were told there was no air-con in the rooms. At first I never thought this would be a problem with being in Scotland but the room was so hot I couldn't sleep even with the small fab provided. We left one of our keys in the elecricity point when we went out to keep the fan running and were angry to find out a cleaner had taken away our key so our room could not be kept cool!
very nice hotel good room bathroom very clean shower excellent, good position for new and old town had a fantastic view from my room thank you
The biggest issue I found here was the air conditioning. Not working but they still charge full price. They came and unlocked the window but then leave with key so you can't shut it again. I spent the three nights with the window fully open and even then the room was far too warm. I was in one of the rooms that looks inwards so people in the other rooms could look right into mine. I couldn't do anything about it as it was too warm to close the window. Just can't believe that I wasn't warned about this until after I paid for the room. The bathroom stunk to high heaven not sure the plumbing has been done right. I use a wheelchair so got a accessible room. No shower chair in room was promised one but that took till my second day to arrive. The room is way too small for a wheelchair user. Can't believe they don't have soap in bathroom that's a new one for me. The accessibility is not the best though. Heating and air con control if it will ever work is far out of my reach. Need to get someone to my room to change temperature crazy. The biggest thing is spending three nights in a hotel and being in the gold fish bowl with people across able to see in. I couldn't see out the window as it was far too high for me to look out. The doors to get into the hotel were supposed to be push button but they never worked and they were extremely heavy. The room was so hot went to bar for some relief. The air con seemed to be working in the bar. I thought about asking them to let me sleep there. Drinks were nice but stupid prices. I was happy to pay though to keep me out of the sauna that was my cage for the night.
the location is good.
New, nice room, friendly people
Very handy city location. Staff most helpful and cheerful. Good breakfast selection. Value for money. Comfortable beds and pillows. Attractive arrangement of small space. Good views towards Royal mile.
I thought the public areas in the hotel were nice. However breakfast was not particularly great and could be improved. Also the room I stayed in had twin beds pushed together instead of a double bed and the twin beds kept moving apart. The location was good and the rooms were quiet however I would recommend that anyone staying did not pay the £7.50 for the breakfast which was definitely not worth that amount.
Perfect location, lovely hotel, very clean and staff helpful would definitely stay again
Brillant location, cool design, friendly staff, only thing that could be improved.... Get the windows to open!
Very convenient location, modern and efficient style, very friendly and helpful staff -our stay at Motel One contributed greatly to our exciting visit of Edinburgh.
I reallky enjoyed my stay in your Edinburg hotel; comfy rooms, freindly staff and good breakfasts. Only critique a bit gloomy lighting in the breakfast room a bit like eating in a night club in these dark early mornings. Thanks to you all.
Very friendly staff and good location - everything looked brand new Nice bedroom - good wifi connection I will stay again
This is a very modern hotel located in an excellent central area of Edinburgh. The room was quite well sized but it was very annoying to hear e.g. the traffic and not see it because of the building restriction outside the window. We were informed that the thermostatic control in the room (shown to us by photo form during check-in) was strictly for heating and not for air conditioning purposes. So I found that by leaving the toilet door open the ventilation cooled the room just enough to make it slightly more comfortable. I'm sure there was a plug-in fan in the corner of the room but the noise would probably have fallen into the same category as the traffic with the window open. We didn't take the continental breakfast (although it looks quite a reasonable spread) as we were looking for a hot filled roll e.g. bacon and in fact our stay in the previous hotel also had a great continental breakfast selection & also supplied bacon roll's all inclusive within their £8.50 price tag.
Lovely staff great location and price
A very central location, room very clean although quite warm but we were provided with a fan. Staff very helpful
Good location, helpful staff, good size room, comfortable bed
Is was very busy when we collected our cases at about 4 pm. I think there should be more than 1,person on the check in desk between 3 and 5 as this is probably the busiest time
Great location, rooms very good, bar & breakfast area very good. bed was very hard
We were very impressed with our whole experience from location to price, cleanliness & friendliness of staff. Will definitely be back.
Lovely hotel, great location and excellent staff. My only complaint is that we had to wait for our room and the drinks we had whilst waiting were extremely expensive.
Great location, great one night stay ~ on business. Rooms sadly just too hot ~ no control to turn down heat.
room could use an aircon but a small fan was in the room . bed/mattress not comfortable for us - too soft . (That is a personal perception may be ok for others) Great location comes along with noise. Would have liked to open a window at night but there was simply too much street noise.
Very good the situation but hard to find the entrance to the hotel.
Great hotel - fantastic location, room was clean and comfotable. Would definitely stay again.
This was the first time I had stayed in any Motel One hotels. The room was immaculate and stylish and had everything required for a comfortable stay. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Would definitely book again.
I have stayed @ Motel 1 previously so when saw it was available at such a reasonable price simply booked straight away. Clean, good wifi and spacious room - having stayed in many other hotels in Edinburgh it is hard to reconcile the quality provided and the excellent location with the price - good to have a pleasant surpeise
Really good location, in the center of the city, close to the main attractions. We had a nice little room with a comfortable bed. The room was a little bit dark and there was no place to put our clothes. Big plus for the coffee and tea in the room. Overall a good experience.
Loved the hotel. The location is perfect. It doesnt look like a hotel from the outside, looks more like a heritage building. Very close to the important points for a tourist, especially Princes St, Waterloo Place and the Waverley Station. Staff is very helpful and welcoming. Rooms are very nice, smart optimisation of space. My Room had a good view of the city. Rooms dont have any phones, it is not possible to communicate with the Reception. Also, reception is on first floor, slightly inconvenient.
Room was very warm - fan and window opening made very little difference.
Friendly, clean and welcoming.
Very good location, clean pleasant hotel (motel) classy decor great staff at check in, over all a good weekend stay. Only wee complaint was the expell air in shower didn't work so when you opened the toilet door the bedroom got filled with steam but very small issue that is easily rectified.
Very pleased with my stay. Personell very forthcoming, eager to help and pleasant. The room was clean and bright, windows with a great view over Princess Street and the bathroom was a delight. Breakfast was a variety of choices, toast, croissants, rolls, cereals, fruits etc.
The bed was comfortable however the room was just so hot! It was too hot to sleep and the window doesn't open very wide to allow us to cool the room. The 3 nights we spent there were mostly sleep free which makes your product faulty!
Your staff were great - really friendly and helpful, including the cleaning staff. The room was spotless and tidy, and the location of the hotel is fantastic. The only reason why I didn't mark higher were for small personal reasons - the room was a bit too warm for me, even with the window open and fan on and the shower room was very warm. There was a slight buzzing or humming noise constantly from the light-well/courtyard that the room looked onto. I really needed an iron which is usually found in hotel rooms but there wasn't one. Other than these points everything else was great and I would definitely stay there again.
Great hotel! Great staff!
I was really impressed by the place - great staff, very clean, good interiors, superb location and good value. It appeared to be a really well run place. German efficiency shows the way, again.
Great hotel in a great location! Loved Motel One. First time we have stayed but would definitely stay again when in edinburgh. staff very helpful and polite. We were going to the Playhouse which was a five minute walk perfect
Reise mit 2 Kindern 10j unkompliziert. Lage hervorragend
